I watched the Inauguration ceremony together with my son,
Michio.
It went down Tokyo Time from around 1:30 am till about 2:30 am.
As citizens, we wanted to watch history in the making...

I loved Aretha Franklin,
"The Queen of Soul" being part of the proceedings...
Her lovely hat, like her music, regal, and larger than life...

Her rendition of "My Country 'Tis of Thee,"
was wonderful...

That got me thinking...
If you were First Lady, what would you wear, Miz 'Mela Mac?

I came up with my own design, a little fashion fun-
Given all the resources a First Lady would have,
this is my Inauguration Outfit design:

Russian Sable, Cashmere, black Tahitian pearls, and alligator bag and shoes...

But my pièce de résistance,
is a little simplistic elegance from the past...

The violet corsage.

You bought me violets for my furs
And there was blue in the Wintry sky
You pinned the violets to my furs
And gave a lift to the crowds passing by

You smiled at me so sweetly
Since then one thought occurs
That we fell in love completely
The day you bought me violets for my furs

4 boys kick a can
the shrine's lanterns line the street
2008 ends...

Late night revelers
mostly young, try to keep warm
beautiful new smiles

The New Year holiday is about over...

Next Friday, January 9th, is my birthday.

I will celebrate it with a concert, at Jazz Spot "J", Shinjuku,
with my Trio:

Keisaku Takahashi - piano
Kazuo Midorikawa - bass
Yosuke Hase - drums

Also, a few special musical guests may stop by and sit in...

The following week, Friday, January 16th,
I will perform at Tokyo Main Dining, in Shibuya.

Yesterday, I went with my friend Hiroshi,
to see the newly opened Paul Klee Exhibition
at Bunkamura, in Shibuya.

From 2 January, Fri.~ 22 March, Sun. 2009

Masterpieces of Kunstsammlung
Nordrhein-Westfalen:
The Beginning of the 20th Century; Times of Picasso and Klee
...

I enjoy Bunkamura for the fact you can get up close to see
details/ brushwork, and they exercise crowd control.

This collection of art is so absolutely not to be missed!

Divided into 4 categories, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, and
Kandinsky & Klee.

it is one of the most important shows, here for a relatively brief period.

An excellent way to bring in the new year!

"The Gulf of Saint Tropez," Henri Matisse- 1904
"The Lovesick Man", George Grosz- 1916
